Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board 2000 Statewide Annual Licensure Report.
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Austin. Div. of Community and Technical Colleges.
This report provides the licensure examination results for two-year technical associate degrees and one-year certificate programs at community and technical colleges in Texas. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recognizes the success rate for licensure as an integral part of the overall success of many technical programs. The following is a list of some of the licensure examination results for which the 2000 Statewide Annual Licensure Report includes data: aircraft mechanic; cosmetology; court reporting; interpreter for the deaf; law enforcement; massage therapist; nuclear medicine technology; registered nurse, and radiation therapy. Table 1 contains a statewide summary (1996-99), table 2 includes results by program (1996-99), table 3 includes results by institution (1996-99), and table 4 includes institution summaries (1996-99). Highlights include: (1) out of 1,350 people who took the law enforcement-academy licensure exam in Texas in 1999, 829 (61%) passed; (2) in 1999, the most populous programs were Emergency Medical/Paramedic (3,799 students took the licensure test, with 86% passing) and Nurse Aide (3,269 took the test, with 84% passing); and (3) the least populous programs in 1999 were Occupational Therapy Assistant (no one tested), and Fire Protection (Aircraft Rescue) (five student tested and all passed). Appended are explanatory notes for tables and profiles of licensure examinations. (JA)
