Parents' Attitudes and Expectations about Children's Cross-Gender Behavior.
Sandnabba, N. Kenneth; Ahlberg, Christian
Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, v40 n3-4 p249-63 Feb 1999
Assessed parents' attitudes toward cross-gender behavior of boys and girls. Responses of 224 white Finnish parents of 5-year olds reveal that cross-gender boys are regarded more negatively than cross-gender girls. Men perceived more societal acceptance of cross-gender boys than did women. It is thought that cross-gender boys were more likely to become homosexual adults. (SLD)
