This packet contains five units of informational materials and transparency masters with accompanying scripts, skill sheets, and safety tests for teacher and student use in an agricultural mechanics course in vocational agriculture. The first unit introduces the agricultural mechanics shop, covering the following topics: importance of agricultural mechanics, shop rules and regulations, and shop safety and clean-up. The second unit covers farm carpentry in l0 topic sections that deal with using hand tools, along with providing information on uses of various types of lumber. In the third unit, cold metal work is outlined, with eight topic sections covering identification of common kinds of metal, cutting cold metals, filing cold metals, bending and shaping metal, drilling holes, taping and threading, bolting and riveting, and removing broken bolts. The fourth unit covers selecting and applying paint, while the final unit discusses conditioning hand tools. Each topic section of the units contains information sheets, scripts for transparencies, references, and transparency masters. These materials are for teacher use. For the student, the packet contains 39 agricultural mechanics skill sheets, each sheet with an identified skill and a list of materials needed, procedures and illustrations, and additional suggested student activities. A battery of tests on safe uses of various tools completes the student materials. (KC)
