Providing children and adults with appropriate learning experiences in astronomy is partly dependent upon having materials available with which to teach. This document attempts to provide a systematic approach to the dissemination of astronomy education materials which were not commercially developed and thus have not been widely distributed. This is true for the bulk of astronomy education materials. This publication includes a rationale for using materials and activities in the teaching of astronomy, descriptions of the process used to solicit, compile, edit, and disseminate the material, and descriptions of the materials located in the search. Major sections include descriptions of: (1) instructional media; (2) classroom activities and modules; (3) laboratory lessons and modules; (4) curriculum guides and laboratory manuals; (5) special materials on Halley's Comet; and (6) resource materials and guides. In addition, abstracts of astronomy education materials found in the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) database are included, along with information on how to use ERIC. (TW)
