The Adolescent Communication Screen--a criterion-based instrument designed to provide speech-language clinicians a measure for screening the communication skills of students in grades 5 through 12--is described in this document. Included in the description are the instrument's subtests: vocabulary, temporal concepts, language comprehension, grammatic usage, word recall, sequential verbalization, and nonverbal aspects of communication. In addition, the document explains the instrument's standardization procedures, item selection, reliability, validity, administration, and score interpretation. Included are (1) tables that show the comparison of mean standard scores by grade levels of regular education students, learning disabled students, and the combined population; (2) the frequency distribution and percentile ranks of standard scores of the learning disabled population by grade levels; (3) the frequency distribution and percentile ranks of standard scores of the combined population; and (4) the test protocol.
