A Leadership Walk across Gettysburg
Millward, Robert E.
School Administrator, v66 n5 p30-33 May 2009
School administrators find the Civil War battlefield an appropriate venue for fully appreciating the role of vision, mentoring and the power of words. The author, a professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has organized leadership walks across Gettysburg for superintendents and principals for a decade. This article describes the "Leadership Walk Across Gettysburg," a two-day seminar, sponsored by the administration and leadership studies program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The seminar draws parallels between school planning and battlefield strategy.
