FIRE! A Red Flag Tap in Reclaiming Intervention
Bodnar, Brian
Reclaiming Children and Youth: The Journal of Strength-based Interventions, v16 n2 p40-44 Sum 2007
"Red Flag Interventions" address problems which are imported from elsewhere and acted out towards persons who are in effect innocent bystanders. This is commonly seen as students "carry in" problems from the home or street to school, or they "carry over" conflicts from one class to the next. A third variation of Red Flag intervention is when a stressful event triggers strong emotion that "taps in" to some past trauma. Students then display strong emotions which seem out of place in the current situation. In this "tap-in" intervention, a student relives the loss of her mother when a fire destroys a last remaining photograph.
