The Art of Lecturing.
Holt, Charles
If teaching is the effective communication of knowledge, the teacher first must be knowledgeable about the subject being taught. Communicating that knowledge to students is just as important. One standard teaching method is the lecture. A lecture is prepared before class by the teacher and should include not only the facts to be learned by the students, but also the insights and experiences of the teacher as the intellectual master of the topic. It is a powerful teaching tool, but it requires time and effort on the part of the teacher. This guide offers suggestions for becoming a successful lecturer. The chapters are arranged from the general topic of lecturing to the specific steps required to prepare a lecture. (JB)
