Presenting Mitosis
Roche, Stephanie; Sterling, Donna R.
Science Scope, v28 n8 p52-53 Jul 2005
When the topic of cell division is introduced in the classroom, students can showcase their interpretations of the stages of mitosis by creating a slide show illustrating prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase (see samples in Figure 1). With the help of a computer, they can create a model of mitosis that will help them distinguish the sequence of stages that ultimately allows genetic information to be transferred from cell to cell. Using drawing tools and presentation software to express science concepts is fun and surprisingly easy for students. PowerPoint, is so easy to use that within 20 minutes students will be creating their own multislide presentation.
