Compilation of Case Studies: Exemplary Placement and Follow-Up Studies.
Dale, Jack
Examples of placement and follow-up conceptual models developed for a program of vocational education (kindergarten through university) are presented. Section 1 contains a historical overview of placement and follow-up activities in Florida and describes a comprehensive model. Section 2, describing a model for utilizing community resources for the development of jobs for a school-based placement service, provides an in-depth analysis of the program components (including assessment, job placement, job development through community resources, longitudinal placement, and internal program evaluation). Section 3 describes an approach for collecting and disseminating placement data on a longitudinal basis at an area vocational-technical center. Section 4 provides a conceptual outline of the steps followed in collecting and using student follow-up information on a district level. Section 5 describes a junior college placement model which assists students and accommodates the employers' position in the placement process. Section 6 describes the Computer Assisted Placement Services System (CAPS) implemented in senior high schools of Duval County, Florida. Section 7 describes how to initiate and implement a follow-up research program at a junior college. Section 8 describes a three-part system for collecting student performance indicators--an employer survey, a junior/community college program, and a university component. (TA)
