Viewing CAD Drawings on the Internet
Schwendau, Mark
Tech Directions, v64 n3 p26-27 Oct 2004
Computer aided design (CAD) has been producing 3-D models for years. AutoCAD software is frequently used to create sophisticated 3-D models. These CAD files can be exported as 3DS files for import into Autodesk's 3-D Studio Viz. In this program, the user can render and modify the 3-D model before exporting it out as a WRL (world file hyperlinked) file suitable for VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) web browser viewing. VRML model gives browsers a way of walking around in a virtual 3-D world within the confines of the Internet. It allows web viewers to tour 3-D models by rotation of yaw ("Y-axis"), pitch ("X-axis") and roll ("Z-axis"). (Contains 6 resources.)
