SRATE Journal, v11 n1 p56-63 Win 2002
In 1999, investigators from Florida's Regal Swan Project researched the care of captive swans in hotels, resorts, educational settings, and municipalities. This led to a vaccine to mitigate swan deaths from botulism and a book with standards and guidelines for swan keepers worldwide. Research was shared through a science and reading curriculum based on case studies and science projects mirroring the Regal Swan's research and compatible with Florida's curricular competencies. (SM)
