A Physiological Comparison of Performance-Matched Female and Male Distance Runners.

Eight male and eight female runners were matched on the basis of performance in a 24.2 kilometer road race, and subjected to various performance and body measurements. The results indicated that the male and female runners were very similar in body composition and in metabolic and cardiorespiratory responses to exercise. (Author/MT)
