This study, designed to update comparative data on teacher supply and demand and the status of currently active teachers, is divided into five sections: (1) Total Professional Personnel; (2) Letters of Authorization (emergency certificates); (3) New Personnel; (4) Supply of Teachers; and (5) Miscellaneous. Charts and tables are used to give information on the number, background, characteristics, and qualifications of new teachers and of all professional personnel. Data are provided on the match between the field of preparation and teacher assignment. Statistics are given on individuals recommended for certification by the six teacher-preparation institutions in Utah and their subsequent teacher or non-teacher placement. Demographic information concerning number of births, population, and enrollment is included. (DG)
