Mr. Gadgrind and Miss Beale: Old Dichotomies, Inexorable Choices and What Shall We Tell the Students about Primary Teaching Methods?
Sharpe, Keith
Journal of Education for Teaching, v23 n1 p69-83 Mar 1997
This paper argues that British initial teacher training should address primary teaching methods directly so preservice students can appreciate the limitations of much popular debate about teaching styles, understand the historical backdrop against which the current situation has emerged, and appreciate the realities underpinning the context in which they must make methodological choices.
