Example Museum Field Trip Components for College-Level Art Appreciation.
Demery, Marie
A museum field trip should be the highlight of every art appreciation course. Through this experience, students are introduced to the museum as a source for authentic, original art and for scholarship, education, and entertainment. A well-planned field trip achieves this objective through the use and modification of eight components: (1) Integration of Museum Unit into Art Appreciation Course; (2) Selection/Contact with a Major Museum for Field Trip; (3) Arrangements for Safe, Economical Transportation; (4) Preparation of Students for Field Trip; (5) Field Trip Schedule; (6) Use of Docents and Viewing Guides; (7) Student Evaluation Form for Field Trip; and (8) Class Discussion of Field Trip. Each of these components is described, and a course outline and bibliography are also included. (Author/BZ)
