Tables on the employment and status of teachers in state schools in the European Community were compiled at the request of the Commission of the European Communities. The information collected for each nation is recruitment on the basis of educational degree, probation period, recognition as teacher, nominated into post, employer, civil servant status, and nationality restriction.
