The material presented in this booklet is designed to provide supplemental information and exercises to aid in the development of basic everyday skills in business math. Seven units are presented with each unit containing basic information on the unit topic, followed by student exercises, and a review section. The seven units are (1) check writing (checking accounts, deposit slips, check stubs, writing a check, balancing bank statements); (2) wages (figuring income, deductions, time cards, income tax forms); (3) installment buying (cash versus installment buying, installment price and finance charges); (4) budgets (establishing a budget, special budgeting problems); (5) home expenses (owning a home, utility bills, taxes and insurance, shopping, sales tax); (6) automobile expenses (depreciation, insurance, operating expenses); and (7) metrics (length, capacity, weight).
