Muslim Families and Family Therapy.
Daneshpour, Manijeh
Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, v24 n3 p355-68 Jul 1998
Examines the applicability of the Anglo-American models of family therapy to Muslim immigrant families. The differences in value systems are the Muslim families' preferences for greater connectedness, a less flexible and more hierarchical family structure, and an implicit communication style. Suggests that directions for change for Muslims need to be integrated into the assessment and goals for family therapy. (Author/MKA)
