Training, maintenance, and transfer of performance of mildly and moderately retarded young adults on the Tower of Hanoi, a transformation problem-solving task, was measured in two studies. Performance on trained problems was improved and gains were maintained over periods of 9 and 13 weeks. Generalization to two transfer tasks was very limited. (CL)
