Standardized vocational education course titles and core contents are provided for two courses in Mississippi: agriculture, grades seven and eight. The first course contains the following units: (1) agricultural careers; (2) leadership and Future Farmers of America (FFA); (3) public speaking; (4) parliamentary procedures; (5) introduction to supervised occupational experience; (6) livestock and animal science; (7) crop and plant science; (8) soils; (9) shop safety; (10) basic tools and shop work; and (11) operating power machinery. The second course contains the following units: (1) agricultural careers; (2) leadership and FFA; (3) public speaking; (4) parliamentary procedure; (5) supervised occupational experience; (6) animal science; (7) plant science; (8) soils; (9) computers; (10) shop safety; (11) basic tools and shop work; and (12) agricultural safety. Each unit consists of these components: objectives, with core/essential objectives indicated; suggested instructional practices; list of suggested resources; list of evaluation and suggested minimum performance standards, with core/essential objectives indicated; and performance record, with core/essential objectives indicated. A checklist for each course combining all unit performance standards into a single list is included. (NLA)
