Using Interactive Whiteboards in Teaching Retail Mathematics
Greene, Marla; Kirpalani, Nicole
Marketing Education Review, v23 n1 p49-53 Spr 2013
Undergraduate marketing students have sometimes been found to lack mathematical skills. It can therefore be challenging for instructors to effectively teach courses that depend on mathematical problem-solving skills. This paper discusses the use of interactive whiteboards as an innovative way to teach retail mathematics effectively. The authors present research based on learning outcomes in a merchandise planning and control course over the span of six years (19 sections with more than 300 students). Findings suggest that the use of interactive whiteboards can significantly improve student engagement and knowledge retention, resulting in better test scores and course grades.
