The Changing Nature of Information Literacy in the Technical College Environment
Waldman, Amy
Public Services Quarterly, v9 n2 p172-179 2013
Community and technical colleges have a long-established tradition of instructing students in library use with the goal of increasing information literacy and life-long learning (Branch & Gilchrist, 1996). This article will briefly summarize that history and discuss the impact the information age has had in altering the ways in which that instruction is offered. It will then address the ways in which community and technical colleges can effectively continue the tradition of providing the necessary tools that enable students and graduates to become information-literate citizens.
