The Art of Web Design
Longe, Heather
Techniques: Connecting Education and Careers (J3), v83 n3 p26-32 Mar 2008
The essential components to building a successful Web site are many times overlooked. There is a misconception that if an individual knows HTML or is a Web developer, an effective Web site can easily be created. In reality, a variety of other factors are needed before technical skills ever come into play. When instructing students in the art of developing a Web site, it is important to impress upon them that a great deal of preparation and thought is required before they apply their technical skills. A builder can't construct a house without a floor plan or a blueprint. This article presents steps that provide a blueprint for developing a Web site.
