Relationship of Adolescent Perceptions of Racial Socialization to Racial Identity.

Examines the relationship between racial socialization attitudes and racial identity stages. The Scale of Racial Socialization for Adolescents and the Racial Identity Attitude Scale administered to 287 black adolescents show that specific factors of racial socialization differentially predict all the racial identity stages for females and the preencounter and internalization identity stages for males; racial socialization is shown to be multidimensional.
