Hispanic Outreach: Delivering the Safety and Health Message.
Delaney, Kathryn
Job Safety & Health Quarterly, v13 n4 p32-36 Sum 2002
After a sharp increase in fatal accidents among Hispanic construction workers in Dallas, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) began aggressive outreach to the Mexican American community. Efforts included training bilingual safety trainers, offering workers' safety training in Spanish, and developing Spanish-language materials. Community cooperation during the Cinco de Mayo celebration created a venue for disseminating information in a culturally relevant way. (SV)
