Investigated the tobacco-related attitudes, behaviors, and needs of smoking and nonsmoking teens being seen for routine primary care, identifying tobacco use predictors. Most teens approached were willing to receive tobacco and diet interventions. Smoking predictors included older age, lower educational aspirations, having parents or friends who smoked, having a low body mass index, and having a depressed affect. Most current smokers were contemplating or preparing to quit. (Contains references.) (SM)
