A Comprehensive Report in Five Sections to the National Institute on Drug Abuse Concerning the National Human Services/Drug Abuse Project for the Period August, 1975 through July, 1978.
Miami-Dade Community Coll., FL.
This five-part report summarizes the 1975-1978 activities of the Human Services/Drug Abuse (HS/DA) Project coordinated by Miami-Dade Community College (M-DCC) under the sponsorship of the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Part I discusses the membership selection, formation, organization, and current status of a national demonstration consortium of community colleges, established for the cooperative development of broadly transferable associate degree programs in Human Services, with an emphasis on drug abuse. Part II outlines the activities and progress of the consortium toward an HS/DA degree program, which have included the creation of preliminary definitions and goals for HS/DA education; discussion on curriculum design; and the development of drug abuse modules, pilot programs on video cassettes, and a Human Services textbook. Part III discusses the presentations made by consortium members at two conferences. Part IV outlines the methodology and procedures of a survey begun in 1977 to determine the state of Human Services education at 400 two-year institutions. Part V discusses the planning for the implementation of an HS/DA degree program at M-DCC. The document includes five appendices corresponding to each of the report sections. (JP)
