An Exploratory Investigation into the Relationship between Television Program Preference and Emotion-Eliciting Qualities--A New Theoretical Perspective.
Christ, William G.; Biggers, Thompson
Western Journal of Speech Communication, v48 n3 p293-307 Sum 1984
This exploratory study applies Mehrabian and Russell's newly formulated theory of emotion to the problem of explaining television program preference. Results suggest that emotion-eliciting qualities (pleasure, arousal, and dominance) can account for up to 43 percent of the program preference of television viewers. (PD)
