How Can I Help My Struggling Readers?
Duke, Nell K.; Pressley, Michael
Instructor, v115 n4 p23-25 Dec 2005
The reasons some children struggle with reading are as varied as the children themselves. From trouble decoding words to problems retaining information, reading difficulties are complex. All kids, says the International Reading Association, "have a right to instruction designed with their specific needs in mind." The question is how to identify and address these needs. It can seem a daunting, if not impossible, task. In this article, the authors share several strategies on how teachers can help struggling readers.
