Morphosyntactic Forms of African American English Used by Young Children and Their Caregivers.
Washington, Julie A; Craig, Holly K.
Applied Psycholinguistics, v23 n2 p209-31 Jun 2002
Explores differences between primary caregivers and their young children in dialect use across generations by directly examining dialectal variations apparent during play interactions between African American primary caregivers and their young children. Concludes that there is evidence in these interactions of differences between the child and caregiver in the structure and the use of individual African American English. (Author/VWL)
