When one says "writing about teaching artist practice," what exactly does that mean? In the first two sections (EJ1039315 and EJ1039319), the authors considered different ways to frame a story by either zooming in closely to a specific moment or zooming out to provide more context in an effort to address complex issues. The stories in this section highlight a different way of writing about their work. Specifically, this section features one final and important role that writing can play in the work of teaching artists, one that provides a place to muse about what is happening and sort out one's reactions and thoughts. The stories in this section all share a phrase along the lines of "I've been thinking a lot about …" It is hoped that this section will lead the readers to some questions of their own, perhaps something along the lines of: "What is important to me about my art form?" "How do I bring those things into my teaching spaces?" "What do I value about the way in which I teach my art form and how does this show up in my curriculum, pedagogy or work with students?" "What situations or classroom experiences have taught me the most about teaching?"
