Differential Gender Effects of Exposure to Rap Music on African American Adolescents' Acceptance of Teen Dating Violence.
Johnson, James D.; And Others
Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, v33 n7-8 p597-605 Oct 1995
Assessed the effects of exposure to nonviolent rap videos on black adolescents' perceptions of teen dating violence. Results from 60 black adolescents and teenagers indicate a significant interaction between gender and video exposure: male acceptance of the use of violence was not a function of viewing the videos, whereas video-viewing females showed greater acceptance of the violence than females who were not exposed.
