Describes and analyzes communication technologies of a peripheral state, the Philippines, in the context of its historical integration within the world economy and dependent association with the United States. Analyzes functions of new communication technologies in the production of state power, including using communications for accumulation, coercion, and legitimacy; and communications and regime change in the dependent-integrated state.
