Other Minds in the Brain: A Functional Imaging Study of "Theory of Mind" in Story Comprehension.
Fletcher, P. C.; And Others
Cognition, v57 n2 p109-28 Nov 1995
A neuroimaging study examined brain activity of normal subjects performing story comprehension tasks necessitating the attribution of mental states. Brain activity was compared with that from two control tasks. Comparison of the "theory of mind" stories with "physical" stories revealed a specific pattern of activation associated with mental state attribution, suggesting implications for the neural basis of autism.
