Parsing in Context: Computational and Psycholinguistic Approaches to Resolving Ambiguity during Sentence Processing.
Garnham, Alan; Altmann, Gerry
Language and Cognitive Processes, v10 n3-4 p377-81 Aug 1995
Examines research on the interpretation of ambiguous sentences and the presence or absence of contextual override effects. This study also examines the requirements placed on computational models of word-by-word incremental processing. The emerging picture is of a multiple constraint-based system in which knowledge ranging from lexical through pragmatic can influence the interpretation of incoming material. (13 references) (CK)
