Friendship Quality during Preadolescence and Adolescence: The Contributions of Relationship Orientations, Instrumentality, and Expressivity.
Carlson Jones, Diane; Costin, Susan E.
Merrill-Palmer Quarterly, v41 n4 p517-35 Oct 1995
Explored the role of relationship orientations, gender-related characteristics, and perceptions of friendship quality during preadolescence and adolescence. Results indicated that grade and sex differences are evident in the early adolescent years and are linked to perceptions of friendship quality. Preliminary evidence showed that relationship orientations may play a more important role in the friendship quality of boys than girls. (AA)
