Using a Whole Class Tryout Procedure for Identifying Economically Disadvantaged Students in Three Socioeconomically Diverse Schools.
Jatko, Beverly Porter
Journal for the Education of the Gifted, v19 n1 p83-105 Fall 1995
An action research approach was used to evaluate a nontraditional gifted identification technique for disadvantaged students. Fourth-grade students selected by a whole classroom "tryout" technique participated in the Future Problem Solving component of the talented and gifted curriculum with students selected by traditional means. Analysis showed that the technique was effective in identifying economically disadvantaged gifted students. (DB)
