Assessment of Swimming in Physical Education
Grosse, Susan J.
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v19 n1 p35-36 Sep-Oct 2005
This article presents an excerpt from the book "Assessment of Swimming in Physical Education" by Susan J. Grosse. In this excerpt, the different methods of assessment are discussed. Each type of assessment presented in the book has a place in swim curriculum. Assessments can measure form, skill application, knowledge, behavior, attitude, or decision making. It is important to assess all areas of growth and development toward skilled swimming, since they all interact with each other in regard to participation in aquatic activities. Here, the author offers suggestions for instructors to determine which assessment to use based on their program goals and objectives, as well as students' needs and interests. (Contains 1 table.)
