In this article, Early Childhood Today (ECT) talked with three early childhood leaders from diverse backgrounds: Rebeca Barrera, Asa Hilliard, and Lily Wong. This article presents what they said about their own childhoods--and about helping children develop pride in their heritage. Among other things, Rebeca Barrera discusses the importance of bilingual education and the reasons for introducing bilingual education to the nation's children.
