Swain, John; Griffiths, Carol; Heyman, Bob
British Journal of Guidance & Counselling, v31 n1 p137-52 Feb 2003
Explores the possible conflicts between counseling approaches that can individualize and personalize problems and disability as a political issue and illustrates the social construction of disability as an individualized problem within the counseling process. Considering the implications for counseling practice, argues for an approach to counseling which recognizes the social model of disability as the basis for social change. (Contains 25 references.)
