Adolescents' Ratings of Perceived Social Support and Its Importance: Validation of the Student Social Support Scale.
Malecki, Christine K.; Elliott, Stephen N.
Psychology in the Schools, v36 n6 p473-83 Nov 1999
Analysis of Student Social Support Scale (SSSS), a four-factor scale (Parent, Teacher, Classmate, and Close Friend), revealed that (1) SSSS is highly reliable, (2) social support differed by developmental/age groups and by sex, and (3) relationships exist among social support, self-concept, and social behavior. Concludes that SSSS is a promising measure of students' perceived social support for both research and practice. (Author/JDM)
