The School-to-Work Movement and Youth Apprenticeship in the U.S.: Educational Reform and Democratic Renewal?
Gregson, James A.
Journal of Industrial Teacher Education, v32 n3 p7-29 Spr 1995
Youth apprenticeships are hampered by failure to recognize transformative potential, address worker empowerment, introduce conflict into the curriculum, acknowledge labor market realities, and eliminate tracking. Apprenticeships have potential to minimize youth floundering, ensure educative work experiences, increase earnings and educational attainment, and make school more meaningful. (SK)
