Social Learning Theory, Self-Reported Delinquency, and Youth Gangs: A New Twist on a General Theory of Crime and Delinquency.
Winfree, L. Thomas, Jr.; And Others
Youth & Society, v26 n2 p147-77 Dec 1994
Examines the utility of applying selected elements of the social-learning theory to the examination of youth gangs. Studying ninth-grade public-school pupils, researchers discovered that the social-learning perspective provided insights into gang membership. Group-context offending was related to both social-learning theory and gang membership. Other self-reported delinquencies were unrelated to gang membership. (GLR)
