Reconsidering the Effects of Marital Disruption: What Happens to Children of Divorce in Early Adulthood?
Furstenberg, Frank F., Jr.; Teitler, Julien O.
Journal of Family Issues, v15 n2 p173-90 Jun 1994
Used data from National Survey of Children to identify predivorce individual and family characteristics that explain portion of effect of parental separation on long-term well-being of children (educational and economic attainment, patterns of family formation, delinquency, psychological well-being). Divorce was associated with some outcomes, although much of its putative effect diminished when predivorce factors were taken into account. (Author/NB)
