Contrasts the kinship terminology of Argentine Sign Language (LSA) with standard Spanish kinship terminology employed by nondeaf members in Argentine society. The combination of male and female terms and the frequency of reciprocal terms in LSA demonstrates that Argentine deaf society is culturally distinct in important ways from mainstream society.
