Student Standards for the Elementary Academy: The Edison Project.
Edison Project, New York, NY.
The Edison Project, in concert with its public school partners, produces curriculum materials and standards for its six "academies," or educational levels. This book sets forth standards describing the knowledge and skills students will have in each curriculum area when they complete the Elementary Academy (for children in grades 3 through 5). After an introduction, the discussion of standards, activities, and assessments is divided into the following areas: Humanities and the Arts (including history, geography, civics, economics, language arts, and the arts); Mathematics; Science; Character and Ethics; Physical Fitness and Health; and Practical Arts and Skills. Included in each section are the standards for a specific curriculum area, accompanying activities (including cross-curricular activities), resources, and appropriate assessments. A final section on ensuring student success and an extensive list of acknowledgements conclude the volume. (DR)
