Split Ends: Teenage Stepchildren.
Webber, Ruth
Noting that family members need to work together to find ways of relating that feel comfortable, this book is intended to help teenage stepchildren understand stepfamily life and to find ways to make it happier. The chapters are: (1) "Divided Loyalty," including being a go-between for divorcing parents and where to live; (2) "Can Access Be Fun?" on stepsiblings and visiting the noncustodial parent; (3) "You and Your Parent," including jealousy and coping with loss and grief; (4) "You and Your Stepparent" including how to treat a stepparent and different parenting styles; (5) "Being Invaded?" including emotional and personal space; (6) "Gaining Freedom," on developing adolescent independence and responsibility; (7) "Frustrations and Annoyances," including steprelatives, and parents' sex life; and (8) "Giving it a Go: Taking Control" including rules for fighting fair and advice from teenage stepchildren. Each chapter concludes with a one-paragraph summary or "wrap-up." (HTH)
