This book provides listings of about 1900 markets and other opportunities for fiction writers. In addition to the listings, the book offers interviews with published authors and editors and a wide range of articles and introductory material on the craft of writing and on all aspects of marketing and publishing. The book is divided into three parts: (1) Writing Techniques--interviews with authors, articles on writing, and helpful informational pieces; (2) The Markets--information on literary magazines and commercial magazines, information on small presses, interviews with editors called "insider viewpoints," and announcements of awards, grants, and contests; and (3) Resources--lists conferences, workshops, colonies, retreats, and organizations of interest to writers. Following this, a new feature of the book, The Writing Community, profiles the writing scene in nine cities. A glossary, a category index, and a markets index are appended. (NKA)
