A Window on the World: A Bibliography of Children's Literature.
Burgess, Kirsten Anne, Comp.; Easley, Shirley-Dale, Comp.
Presenting works which best elicit emotional meaning and thus a personal understanding, and perhaps a social consciousness, of larger world concerns, this bibliography presents annotations of over 550 books on issues such as change, conflict, culture, discrimination (gender and racial), environment, family, individuality, and universal themes. Each listing in the annotated bibliography offers the title, author, geographical or cultural origin, issues raised, approximate age level (primary, elementary, intermediate, and upper), and a brief description. Where available, ISBN number and publisher's address are offered for each book in the annotated bibliography. Appendixes provide a listing of titles according to issues, addresses of publishers, and a World of Fiction Study Guide. (RS)
